Day 60 ~ Amarillo, TX to Albuquerque, New Mexico

When we left Amarillo, TX early this morning, we noticed out over the horizon a storm coming towards us as we were leaving town.  It kept getting darker and darker, and as we were driving I noticed a lot of commercial advertising signs blown down and ripped apart and some areas looked like they had been abandoned.  Hmmmmm....could we be in a Tornado Zone?  I kept my eyes pasted to the storm surrounding us as John drove as quickly as he could to get the heck out of dodge!!!  We hit some really heavy rain that slowed us down to about 45 MPH, but within just a few minutes it was over.  Then the lightening was lighting up the dark morning skies.  I just kept my fingers crossed that it wasn't going to be like this the entire trip home!

We made it to Albuquerque, NM.  They say in Albuquerque you need to ditch your umbrella and that they have sunshine 310 days a year.  Well, today isn't one of them!  But, I should not complain too much, the sun is shining just with some rain showers in between. We are staying at the Enchanted Trails R.V. Park & Trading Post, it was originally known as Hill Top Trading Post on Route 66.  We are very excited to get a little rest this afternoon and then go exploring tonight to Central Avenue to see the Original Route 66 Neon lights that color a mile long strip.  We know 2 days won't be long enough here, but it will give us a good idea what we can see the next time we are in this area and if we want to come back.

We ended up going to "Old Town" in the evening, looks like we are going to have fun tomorrow!  We brought the dogs with us so we didn't make it to any of the shops, we decided to take them to a park and have some play time with them.  The winds were finally calming down, no balloons to see because of the storm that went through earlier today.  Looks like we have a big day tomorrow!

The Rain was insane!!  We had to slow down...

This is the storm we went through...We ran away from it!

Very Nice RV Park
