We found a very nice RV park called the Mark Twain Cave & Campground. We enjoyed the historic downtown district, lot's of antique stores and we toured Mark Twain's home/museum. We took a good hike up to the lighthouse which overlooked the Mississippi River into Illinois. The lighthouse was Mark Twain's Memorial Lighthouse.
Such a beautiful day! The temperatures were in the low 80's. Couldn't ask for better weather. The boys, Tanner & Frankie seem to be more relaxed in these temperatures. We also noticed that the tree's are starting to change color. We are not sure if it's because of the drought or because the temperatures have cooled down a bit.
After a fun afternoon in the historical downtown district, we explored/toured the Mark Twain Cave. It was a really fun tour! It was so interesting to hear all about Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Becky and their exploration in the cave. The cave was very well described in the book because it was exactly what I had imagined when I read it as a kid! When the tour guide turned off the light to show us what it was like when they got lost in the cave, OMG....Total "blackout."
We've certainly enjoyed our stay here, but are anxious to get on the road and see where else these highways take us!
