We enjoyed the tour of the Mansion. It has been so well preserved to remain in it's original condition. The grounds were breathtaking. The Mansion sits on 1,120 acres. 65 of those acres are all cotton fields. We took a Wagon ride beyond the Mansion into the Hermitage Plantation. In the mid 1800's, there were over 150 slaves working on the plantation. It amazed both John and I to be standing on the same land where all this took place. The tour through the plantation was so informative, we were deeply moved by this experience.
We spent most of the day at the Hermitage. After our tour we went to Chili's for a light dinner. Great salads! We then picked up a few groceries, got the boys and called it a day.

DeleteAwesome, cant wait to see you and meet John. very excited. Nashville is a great city.
DeleteIm not surprised you were sympathetic to the plight of the slaves. You looked right at home outside those slave quarters. Since between you, I think you must have about 45 years total of being slaves to the federal government. "Yessah mastah"
ReplyDelete40 Years for John and 24 for me.... (almost 25).... So hmmm....64 years of service! Yikes!
